How We Booked A 3 Bedroom/3 Bathroom Oceanfront Condo for FREE... And You Can Too!

This success story comes straight from my family as I'm currently writing this from the beach in Virginia Beach. Our family has enjoyed a free week in a three bedroom, three bathroom oceanfront condo, along with some of our best friends, for a very relaxing time at the beach. So let me very briefly share with you how we did it for free with our points and give you a very clear pathway for how you can do it for free with your points as well.

How We Did It

One of the lesser known secrets about Travel Hacking is that it doesn't just work for flights, hotels, and resorts... You can use your points for house rentals as well! (See another article I wrote: Airbnb Alternatives That Are Incredible) If you're looking for a great home rental option, Vacasa Rentals are amazing! Here's an amazing Travel Hack though, you can actually rent Vacasa homes with Wyndham Points. 

So thanks to our points, we were able to stay in this amazing place! It had 3 Bedrooms, along with 3 Full Bathroom, it included a large living room, dining room, and full kitchen. Not to mention, it had two different balconies for us to be able to enjoy our oceanfront view from our second-story location. Best of all, the ocean was only about a 60 yard walk from our condo! If we had paid the cash price, it would've cost us $3,800 to rent this place for the week, but thanks to our points, we rented the entire place for FREE! This not only provided a great place for our family, but we were also able to have another couple travel with us who we enjoy vacationing with. Plus, since they're also into Travel Hacking, they contributed 1/3 of the points that we used for the rental.

How You Can Do It Too

If you're looking for a house rental, I would highly recommend one of Vacasa's 15,000+ rentals to you! Once you find a place that you want to rent, you can call to find out how many Wyndham Points are needed to rent that specific place. Wyndham has a dedicated phone line for Vacasa reservations (1-800-441-1034). For context, it cost us 283,500 Wyndham Points to book our place. So how can you earn Wyndham Points? You can get one of the Wyndham Earner Credit Cards and/or use Citi Strata/Citi Rewards+ to transfer points to Wyndham. 

So if you wanted to get 280,000+ Points, you and your spouse could each separately sign up for a Wyndham Earner Plus, Citi Strata, and Citi Rewards+ cards and you'll earn 300,000 points! That's a really easy way for you to rent a multi-bedroom/multi-bathroom house with Vacasa for your next family vacation.

Bonus Tip: Pool Your Points with Family & Friends

Wyndham allows people to transfer an unlimited amount of points to other people. So if you and another couple or family all want to vacation together, you could easily pool your points together to get an even bigger and better house that you all stay in together.
